Sprinklers fall into one of two types based on the method they use to apply water to the ground:

• spray-type (sprays)
• rotor-type (rotors)

Rotor-type sprinklers use a rotating stream (or multiple streams) of water to apply the water to the ground.  Most often simply called “rotors”, they are used for larger areas generally more than 18' in width.
